All about sinusitis .. Causes – Symptoms – Treatment

Sinusitis is a widespread disease especially among smokers, and in winter and spring. When inflamed, it causes a headache that can not be tolerated.

What are sinuses?

The sinuses are four hollow openings in the bones around the nose on either side of the head. Each pocket connects to the nasal cavity through a narrow channel about 1-2 millimeters in diameter.

The largest sinus is responsible for most sinus problems in adults and is found in the upper jaw bone (under the skin of the cheek). These pockets are lined with a mucous membrane with many blood vessels and small glands to secrete the mucus. Inflammation or allergic rhinitis leads to swelling of the mucous membrane and clogged openings and ducts, thus filling the sinuses with excretions that become a testicular environment for bacterial growth and inflammation.

Types of sinusitis:

  • Acute sinusitis:The symptoms of “acute sinusitis” appear surprisingly similar to symptoms of colds such as colds, colds and headaches and continue in this type of sinus symptoms for more than 10 – 14 days. Sinusitis usually lasts for a month or less than a month.
  • Severe Acute Sinusitis:The symptoms of “sub-acute sinusitis” persist for a period of four weeks to eight weeks.
  • Chronic Sinusitis:The symptoms of “chronic sinusitis” persist in this case, for eight weeks or more.
  • Recurrent sinusitis :Recurrent sinusitis symptoms are repeated several times in one year.
